ABOUT HYDROTHERAPY

Hydrotherapy is in a heated pool set at approx 34 degrees designed to relax muscles, improve the circulation system and enable you to stretch muscles as part of the rehabilitation programme designed by our AUT Bachelor if Health Science students and supervised by our hydrotherapy instructor.
This involves a one on one assessment in the water to help you become more mobile and functional as a result of a physical or neurological condition or injury, maintaining and improving flexibility, balance and strength.
Warm-up, cool-down and light stretching exercises are performed at each session and totally individually based. The resistance that the water provides helps out in this area by keeping you buoyant and not putting stress on the joints.
For those with issues such as Arthritis, MS, Osteoporosis, Asthma, heart problems and those recovering from injury or surgery, aquatic exercise provides a cushioning effect for the body, making exercise easier to perform.
People of all levels of fitness can receive benefits from Hydrotherapy. If you want to improve your fitness in a fun, social and educational way, then Hydrotherapy may be what you are searching for.
